Dental Health for Youth

healthAbility's dental health services are provided by professional and qualified Dentists and Dental Therapists working with dental nurses. It is our aim to provide accessible, excellent oral health prevention and treatment so as to improve the quality of life for all clients. We service pre school, school aged and adult members of the community, providing general and emergency dental care.

Dental services are provided through Healthy Bite Dental, which is a part of healthAbility.

Why would I use this service?

The cost of standard dental fees can sometimes prevent or deter people from maintaining a good oral health care program. This provides an opportunity check-up on how healthy your teeth and gums are, as well as providing urgent treatment where required. Services include examinations, fillings, fissure sealants, radiographs, extractions, cleaning, fitting of mouth guards and splints, professional and dietary advice and referrals to Royal Melbourne Dental Hospital.

This service is available to all young people enrolled in secondary school years 7-12 and young people aged up to 18 years not attending school who are dependents of Concession Card Holders or in residential care provided by the Office for Children.  Young people who have received the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule will be bulk billed on the day for any services performed under this schedule.

Do I need a referral?

Patients can wait one day to several weeks for general treatment although emergency appointments are available when needed yet are limited. Referrals for specialist care are made to the Royal Dental Hospital.

How can I make an appointment?

Contact our Dental team on 9430 3100 or make an online booking enquiry.

How much does it cost?

The service is free for students in years 7–12, and school leavers under 18 who are dependents of concession cardholders or are covered by Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule.

Fee paying patients will find our fee schedule at our Healthy Bite Dental website.

Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule

healthAbility provides dental care to children under the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule. We will bulk bill you on the day for any services performed under this schedule.

Is this a home based or centre based service?

This service is centre based at 917 Main Road, Eltham.

“A huge thank you to Nillumbik Health for helping my son who broke his front teeth a school at 1.00pm and got him an appointment at 4.00pm by phoning other clients to fit him in.  Excellent service – thank you.”
