Carrington Health and healthAbility are pleased to announce they will join forces after the parent companies signed a Merger Agreement to unite and create a new organisation effective 1 June 2018.
Carrington Health (previously Whitehorse Community Health) and healthAbility (previously Nillumbik Community Health) are leading community health organisations providing support to their respective communities in Whitehorse and Nillumbik for many decades. Their wide ranging, locally delivered healthcare services focus on allied health, oral health and health promotion and prevention in the community; covering general health; child, youth and family services; mental health; support for those with a disability; older people in the community; and people with chronic and complex conditions.
With extensive experience and expertise in health and community services, both Carrington and healthAbility recognise and understand the greater changes within these sectors. Through the merging of our two organisations, we will harness the benefits of engaging as a larger service provider. This is an exciting opportunity for both organisations to work together to serve our communities, to share information and insights in core service areas, and to facilitate growth and the expansion of services. With a combined workforce of over 320 people and client base of more than 25,000, there is potential for significant beneficial outcomes for the organisations’ clients and communities.
Mrs Ronda Jacobs (pictured), the appointed CEO of the new organisation (currently CEO of Carrington Health) is excited by the benefits the local communities will see as a result of the merger.
“The merging of our two organisations will provide an expanded expertise and footprint that will attract more funding to enable more services, fostering further growth and increasing our impact in the local community in key areas of need for those who need it most,” she said. “It is important to note that in choosing to merge, both organisations recognise their shared values – we are both proudly and passionately committed to delivering high quality and cost effective services, focusing on those who are most vulnerable in our communities.”
Current CEO of healthAbility, Mr Sean Spencer (pictured), will manage the operational aspects of the new organisation as its new Chief Operating Officer.
“We are looking forward to working together and taking advantage of the efficiencies of scale and the opportunities to grow,” he said. “It is important that our staff and clients know there will be no direct job losses as a result of this merger, and that during this process, clients will not experience any change or disruption to services or supports.”
