$8 million pledge for healthAbility Box Hill

We primarily provide services and supports to hard to reach vulnerable people in our community who are more likely to present to hospital. We work with their important networks such as family, friends and GP to provide holistic and long-term care to minimise the chance of hospital admission.We are proud to bring support to over 23000 people each year, and the key to ensuring supports and services continue to be delivered to our community is through long-term funding commitments.

Community health plays an integral role in keeping our community safe and well by continually filling the gaps in the healthcare system and providing localised and personalised preventative and responsive care. Recently, a long-term funding pledge of $8 million over the next four years was announced for healthAbility, which we welcome greatly. Read more here.

A strong health system is more than GPs and hospitals and this significant monetary pledge shows politicians can understand this fact. It’s about strengthening preventative community-based health care services like ours and providing people the care they need in the right place at the right time, as well as supporting the incredible work of all community health practitioners and clinicians.
