healthAbility welcomes release of Home Care Packages
09 September 2025
healthAbility welcomes the Federal Government’s announcement to release 20,000 new home care packages before 1 November, with a further 20,000 by the end of December, to help address the growing waitlist for older Australians. The remaining packages are scheduled to roll out from January 2026.
This announcement follows strong and sustained advocacy from the aged care sector on behalf of older people and the providers who support them. The release is a significant step forward and demonstrates the beginning of addressing the long-standing challenge of home care waitlists.
“Too many older Australians have been waiting too long for the care they need at home. This puts them and the wider health system at greater risk. Our team at healthAbility ensures our clients can access safe, timely, and appropriate care through these packages. We are proud of the service we provide. The release will make a significant difference, but more work still needs to be done," said Natalie Francis, healthAbility Executive, Primary and Complex Care.
