Is your child a fussy eater? Our Feeding Clinic may be able to help.

Do you have a child who:

  • Refuses to eat whole food groups, like meat or vegetables?
  • Eats less than 20 different foods?
  • Gags or coughs during meals?
  • Has trouble sitting at the table during meal times?
  • Weighs less than other children their age?
  • Finds it tricky to eat in restaurants or at parties?

Our feeding clinic starts with an assessment, attended by a Dietitian and Speech Pathologist or Occupational Therapist, the caregiver, and the child. A detailed case history is taken, and the child is usually observed during a mealtime with food and drink.

A feeding treatment plan is then created with the caregiver’s input. These may involve coaching sessions, or feeding sessions with the child. Our approach is respectful of the child’s cues and communication about their needs. We aim to make our feeding sessions fun and motivating for the child (and parent!).

Feeding sessions can be held via telehealth or in clinic. Further referrals may be made to other professionals, such as doctors, or allied health professionals. The clinic is suitable for children aged from 2-12 years old.
