How to contact CHOPER:
- Call 0414 266 203 to leave a voicemail during the day, so we can meet you that same night
- Otherwise, call us as early as possible from 7.30pm onwards
- We cover Eastern Metro Melbourne, from the east of Camberwell to the west of Belgrave and Lilydale
- We will deliver clean injecting equipment, collect used equipment for safe disposal and provide safe sex items
- We can also provide information to help minimise harm and assist with access to other health and community services
What if I have found discarded injecting equipment?
We can help to safely dispose of discarded injecting equipment found on private property. Call our Syringe Disposal service on 0430 524 749 and leave a message with a call back number so that collection can be arranged. For discarded injecting equipment found on public land phone your local Council during business hours to arrange collection.
For families, friends and carers
It can be stressful when someone you care for has a problem with alcohol or other drugs. At times, it can be hard to know what to do and how to navigate the health care system to access the support you need. There are many low cost, accessible treatment services for people using alcohol and other drugs and the people who care about them. See the following pages for more information:
- The First Stop : Navigating the System
- The First Stop : Family and Support Services
- Direct Line : Supporting Someone You Know
- Beyond Blue: Drugs, Alcohol & Mental Health
Important: healthAbility does not offer any advice on safer injecting and sexual health, we only offer written information on safe use. Any queries are referred to Primary Needle Exchange services.
