Dental fillings are used to repair worn or damaged teeth and treat tooth decay.

Fillings are commonly used to treat decay or repair worn or chipped teeth. They look and feel like real teeth, and can assume the same function as your natural teeth.

Root canal treatment is a dental procedure that removes the nerve or dental pulp of the tooth. This is often required when the blood vessel or nerve of a tooth has been badly damaged by tooth decay or sustained some injury.

A series of appointments are needed to treat teeth that require root canals. A temporary filling is used to protect the tooth in between appointments. Once the root canal therapy is finished, a dental crown should be placed over the tooth to assist in protecting the tooth for the longer term.

If you have a missing tooth and want to get an artificial replacement, bridges may be the right option for you.

A bridge replaces the missing tooth with an artificial one without the need for removable dentures. For implementation of a bridge, a crown is also used as a supporting feature which acts to stabilise and anchor the bridge in place.

Dental crowns are often required when a tooth has been severely weakened and is no longer structurally stable.

Preparation involves the removal of decay, replacing any missing tooth structures with new high strength filling material, and then reducing the whole crown of tooth down in size to allow space for the crown or ‘cap’ to fit over the tooth.

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Dentures are made to closely resemble your natural teeth, so that little change in appearance will be noticeable.

Two types of dentures are available: full and partial dentures. Full dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. Both types of dentures can be fitted to either your upper or lower jaw, or both.

The following people are eligible for publicly funded dental health services:

• Children aged 0-12 years
• Teenagers aged 13-17 years who hold an eligible concession card or who are a dependent of someone who holds a healthcare or pensioner concession card
• Adults who hold a pensioner or healthcare concession card

Adults who are holders of Pension or Healthcare Cards are charged $30.00 per visit.

We charge a $30.00 general treatment fee per appointment up to a maximum of $120.00 for all general dental treatments and check-up examinations.

We charge $71.50 per denture with a cap of $143.00 for a full lower and upper denture.

We charge adults a fee of $30.00 per emergency dental treatment visit.

* All fees charged in our public dental service are set by the Department of Health through the Dental Health Service Victoria, or through Medicare Australia, as at 1st October 2020.

* General treatment includes check-up examination, fillings, fissure sealants, x-rays, cleaning, extractions, provision of mouth guards and splints if required, referrals to dental specialists.
