There is no wrong door to getting support

Our Mental Health service is person-centred and trusted, focusing on moving with the client as their mental health support needs change.

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.

Emphasis is placed on the client only telling their story once to make engaging with our mental health service a seamless and supportive experience. Our professional and experienced team work together with people with mental ill-health to provide a variety of counselling, mental health nursing and social and community care options that are available both within business hours and after hours.

These targeted and accessible services help people to live safely, independently and meaningfully.

About our psychology services

Our person-centred psychology team is now able to support more people in our community, including those who are self-funded or not covered by the NDIS.

Our experienced psychologists work with children, families and individuals, actively working to improve physical, mental and social wellbeing. We’re committed to understanding how people think, feel, behave and learn, so we can deliver a personalised care plan that meets your lifestyle.

There are various options available to ensure you can access psychology services:

  • A mental health care plan from your GP (Medicare rebates may apply)
  • Self-funded appointments with the option to claim private health insurance (if applicable)
  • Community Health subsidised appointments
  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funded appointments.

Alongside our psychology services, you will also have access to general counselling, social and community care, and After Hours Mental Health Services. Contact us for more information about psychology with healthAbility, or view our psychology brochure

About our After Hours Mental Health Nursing Service

At healthAbility, we understand that stress, depression, anxiety, and grief don’t follow a schedule. These feelings can be overwhelming at any time of day, any day of the week — but our Mental Health Nurses are equipped and available to help you get on top of things outside of normal business hours or when other mental health services are unavailable.

You have the option to chat with our mental health team in person, over the phone at 1300 003 509, or via telehealth. This service provides:

  • Someone to listen to your thoughts, feelings, needs and concerns
  • Someone to help you decide what to do next
  • Someone to check on you to see how things are going down the track
  • Recommendations for ongoing mental health support services.

This service is free of charge, and no appointment is required. You can speak to one of our Mental Health Nurses between 6pm and 11pm Monday to Friday and 2pm to 7pm on weekends and public holidays.

If you or someone you know is in an emergency or crisis, please contact 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14.
